Here is a sketch that I did some time back while I was in a meeting at work. I thought it would make a nice vector piece so I started nodding it out and addded a few elements to it that I created earlier in the week.

If you click on the image you can also see an alternate version and a few of the design steps. Enjoy – S

Lately I’ve spent more time in Photoshop than anything else and I’ve been wanting to get back to doing more illustrations in Illustrator. I love vector art. I know the style doesn’t appeal to everyone but, it really does to me.

Anyway, here’s a vector piece that put together the other day. I just really like the pose. The thinking behind the piece is that she can’t be with her true love so, not being able to wait the test of time and wanting to show the one she wants that her love for them will last an eternity she slits her own wrists in a final attempt to show how strong her love truely was! I know… kinda dark and morbid. Hope you like it – S

iPhone Home

July 28, 2007

2 weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised with a gift. Inside the little black box was an 8gig iPhone. Holy crap! Now I, being the total MAC whore and gadget freak that I am, was totally surprised! I’ve wanted one since I first heard rumors of it last year. I just thought that it would be awhile before I’d be able to get one seeing how they had been sold out all over town since it’s release. Thankfully, the Apple store had received it’s shipment that day.

Now, let me just say that it’s freakin’ awesome! Not only can I surf the web for my artwork, email clients, take photos, text message, listen to music and watch movies with it, but I can take my digital portfolio with me everywhere. This feature actually came in handy when I was at the local magazine hub last week. As I was looking through the computer art magazines a guy asked me if I was a digital artist and if he would have seen any of my work. Getting ready to direct him to my website I reached into my pocket for a business card and realized that I had all my images with me. After scrolling threw a few dozen pieces he looked at me and said he had remembered my work and was a big fan.

Even though there is so much more to the iPhone, to me that feature alone would have been worth the price!

Thanks so much “K”! I LOVE IT!!!!!! You Rock!!!!

Here’s a little more good news. While surfin’ around on the net I saw that I had one of the “Editor’s Choice” spots on the “AdvancedPhotoshop” site. Pretty cool! Who knows, maybe they will even choose some of my artwork for their magazine. Keep your fingers crossed. – S

So I woke up this morning to some very pleasent news. My good friend Igor from Igorstshirts.com called and told me that we were both featured artists on the CG Channel.com frontpage. Not only is it nice to see my artwork being spotlighted but to have it showcased along side Igor’s, well… that’s just awesome! He is one of the people responsible for getting me started in the world of computer arts! A few of his talents are 3D modeling, motion graphics, video editing, vector graphics, photography and airbrushing but his true passion lies in creating anything in HD. Thanks for the push brotha!

FREE Vector

July 18, 2007

Hey everyone, for the last few days I have been trying to compile a few vector pieces that I have created over the past few years and make a library out of them. Who knows, I may even put them up for sale later on but for now I will share a couple with you. Here is a .pdf FREE Vector Sample sheet that includes 3-skulls & 3-paint drips. Just open the .pdf with illustrator to seperate them. Enjoy – S

Unpaid Work!

July 12, 2007

Here is a logo that my boy “MechahateChimp” and I created awhile back and never got paid for. I hate cheap-ass people that need work right away but never seem to pay right away or ever for that matter! Bastards! Anyway, I thought it was a nice piece and figured it should see some love. – S

Full of HOT AIR

July 9, 2007

Yep, I took another trip this past weekend and went to Steamboat Springs, CO with my girl “K” and I have to tell ya it was a blast! We went up for the Rainbow Weekend Hot Air Balloon Festival, among other things and while there I took about a thousand pics of everything from artwork, clouds and flowers to hot air balloons, landscapes and sunsets. Oh ya, and a golden eagle. The weekend was simply beautiful! Everything was cool except for the hour and a half wait on the drive home to get past an accident outside the Eisenhower Tunnel. Here are some of the pics. Enjoy – S

Ying Yang Tattoo

July 3, 2007

While digging through some old files I came across this piece I had done a few years back. It was for a co-worker who was getting his first tattoo and wanted something original. He presented me with the idea of a dragon and water as a ying yang symbol. I can’t remember what the illustration represented exactly but over all think the piece came out pretty well. Click on the image below to see the original colored pencil drawing and final tattoo. Enjoy – S

Type Treatments 01

July 3, 2007

For the last couple of years I have been watching the work of Hydro74, GoMedia and Maxx242. Their illustrations are great but the one thing that has always inspired me is their logo and type treatments. Some of their treatments seem to have that grungy yet sophisticated feel of biker/tattoo lettering. Very inspirational to me.

Here are a couple of my own treatments that I am currently roughing out. – S
