Scarecrow

October 31, 2007

Here’s another last minute illustration I did for Halloween. My thought behind this was to make him look as though he’s waiting in the lurch ready to pounce on the next unsuspecting victim. The hardest part about this piece was the corn. It was a pain, even with very little detail. Hope ya like – S

Little Deviant!

October 31, 2007

Here is a pic that I sketched up a while back and was trying to have colored by Halloween. Needless to say, the final color version is not completed and it is now all Hollow’s Eve. I will hopefully have the final image completed and posted by this weekend.

This has been a fun piece to work on. I’m not sure yet but I think I’m going to have her standing over a sliced up pumpkin or perhaps a gutted teddy bear. I wanted it to look as though she was all alone and just started cutting into something without feeling any remorse. Well, hopefully that’s the way it comes out. Enjoy it so far – S

Horror Grrrls

October 25, 2007

As you may have noticed I’m a big fan of the human form. Mostly the female side, but human form none the less. Since I’m still very much in the Halloween spirit I’ve sketched out a few more images. A couple of these reflect a darker side with disturbing images of gore and mutilation. The others are more innocent and playful. At least to me. I’ve got a couple more in the works and will be posting them soon and hopefully a couple of color versions as well. – S

First Snow of 2007

October 24, 2007

The snow is upon us again! Sunday morning I woke up to a brisk chill in the house. As I looked out the window I was happily surprised to see about 2 inches of fresh snow on the ground. The mountains have been getting it for about a month, but this was Denver”s first. The only down side to the snow was that I hadn’t put my winter wheels on yet. But don’t you worry, by mid morning I was spinning circles in the nearest parking lot and sliding around corners like I was a drifter in “The Fast & Furious”. It was a good day! – S

I’m honored to have my “Angel” illustration showcased in issue #35 of the Advanced Photoshop magazine, which is in stores now. The pic and a brief description of myself are in the “Peer Pressure” section starting on pg.76.

It’s pretty cool to see it printed. This is actually one of my favorite pieces. Enjoy – S

Last Friday the book I illustrated was showcased on the local morning talk show “Colorado & Company“. They had the author, Rhonda Roth, on to promote and talk about the book. It was a nice 5 minute segment.

“Slob Zombie”

October 19, 2007

Here is the final version of the zombie I started for the “Zombiefest” card. I made the skin a little more decrepit, added a cemetery, a few trees and some leaves to give the piece some depth. I hope ya like it! – S

Zombiefest 2007

October 9, 2007

October is finally upon us! It’s the best time of year. Not only do the tempatures start to drop, leaves start to fall and the nights get longer but, Halloween is just around the corner! That means, ghouls and goblins get to come out play!

Anyway, being an avid fan of the horror genre and this particular upcoming holiday I sketched out a few Zombie head shots last night and thought I’d post them for you to see. Enjoy! – S

Desktop Art

October 2, 2007

Last night I was going through the GoMedia blog and came across some pretty cool techniques. It’s always nice to see people whose artwork/typography/design you respect show you their methods. So after a while I decided to try some of them out on a vector skull that I made last week and this is what came about. I started out with a vector piece and took that into photoshop to finish it off. I’ve also included some downloadable desktops of this image as well. Enjoy – S

Tiger Skull

October 1, 2007

I’m thinking of getting some ShanesArt T’s printed up and I’m wondering if this would be a good one color design for them. Not sure though. Let me know what ya think. Peace – S
