The Art Collection vol.1 - by ShanesArt

“Love Hurts!”

February 14, 2008

I sketched “Love Hurts” last Feb. 14th and decided to color it for this Valentine’s Day. No, I didn’t get my heart broke. I just think getting shot with that arrow would hurt like hell. That’s how I came up with the name.

Now, since Cupid is supposed to be the god of erotic love and beauty, I chose to sketch a playful young lady that seems to get off by shooting her victims with that very sharp and pointy arrow instead of the traditional image of a young boy with wings. Call me crazy, but I never saw a young boy with wings as an erotic and beautiful god!? Cute… maybe, but that’s just me.

Anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day! – S

“Killer”

February 13, 2008

Here is a vector illustration that I made about a week ago. Yes, I know it resembles the “Hitman” logo. However, that was not the intent. Not fully. I was trying to create a nice wood grain look in illustrator and once I had something that I liked I had to put it to use. This piece is how I decided to showcase it.

Enjoy – S

Workshop Sketches

February 12, 2008

Here are a few sketches that I created for a couple of online challenges.

These first 2 sketches were done for the Open Figure Drawing Workshop #22 held on CGtalk.com. I started out using the grid method with a blue line pencil for the roughs and regular pencil for the details. They both still need a bit of work as you can see from the overlay but hopefully with a little more time I can fix them. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to finish them with pencil or digitally in the computer.

This last image shows the 2 concept sketches that I was working on for the AdvancedPhotoshop.com January challenge called “Cyborg”. Due to my work schedule I wasn’t able to finish these.
