Sturgis Bike Rally 2008
August 6, 2008
I was up at the 2008 Sturgis Bike Rally this past weekend and I have to say it was a blast, as usual. Click the images above to see some of the pics that I took while I was there. Even though I was only there for the first weekend they still had tones of gorgeous bikes, great bands, beautiful women, burly bikers and lots of crazy characters. With as hot as it was I was also glad to hear that there had not been any fires in the area this year. Unfortunately, there’s normally at least one.
Anyway, it was a great time and I took plenty of pics. Enjoy – S

In with the new and out with the old!
July 12, 2008
So, yesterday I fell victim to another case of “Mac Whoritis“. Along with thousands of others across the country/world I set out to get the latest iPhone 3G. Expecting the Apple stores around town to have crowds in the hundreds I headed out to the AT&T store closest to my house at 6:30 a.m. and told myself that if there were more than 30 people in line I was just going to go back home and try my luck in a week or so. When I got to the store there were only 32 people in line so I decided to try my luck. With the store opening in just over an hour at 8 a.m. everyone seemed upbeat. The people around me were pretty cool. We were all still rubbing the sleep out of our eyes. As time grew closer to the 8 a.m. store opening I as well as a few other started to get a little frustrated and nervous towards the amount of people that were showing up and jumping in line with friends that were ahead of us. Annoying! I was now 46th in line due to these A-holes that couldn’t get their lazy asses up in time to join the line themselves. We were frustrated and nervous because the AT&T reps came out earlier and told us that they only had 60 phones for sale that day. The also went on to say that out of that 60 they only had 30 16gig iphones and people who didn’t get one today could order one and have it delivered in about a week or come back tomorrow. Way to stock up!

Anyway, 8 o’clock finally arrived and the store started to let people in and buy that time there were about 100+ people in line. It was a slow process because they were only letting in 6 people at a time but thankfully when I finally got to the counter they still had 2 white 16gig iphones left. So at 8:35 a.m. I snatched mine up and headed home. The upgrading and activation process went fairly smooth. Even though the iTunes install server was getting bombarded and crashing I was fortunate to be up and running by about 10:30 a.m. That was not the case for many others.
My assumption about the Apple stores being slammed was correct. I went to the Cherry Creek Apple store at about 3:30 p.m. to get a new case for my phone and lo-n-behold there was still a line of about 500+ people. Thankfully I didn’t have to stand in it to get in.

I really like the new iPhone 3G and App store but wish that Apple or someone would make a video recorder for this thing. T-Moble has a few why don’t we? It would also be nice to view picture messages directly on the phone without having to log into viewmymessage.com every single time. It’s so slow.
Anyway, that’s my rant for the day! Here are some pics of my newest toy!! Peace – S

First Snow of 2007
October 24, 2007
The snow is upon us again! Sunday morning I woke up to a brisk chill in the house. As I looked out the window I was happily surprised to see about 2 inches of fresh snow on the ground. The mountains have been getting it for about a month, but this was Denver”s first. The only down side to the snow was that I hadn’t put my winter wheels on yet. But don’t you worry, by mid morning I was spinning circles in the nearest parking lot and sliding around corners like I was a drifter in “The Fast & Furious”. It was a good day! – S
Trip to the Black Hills, SD
August 15, 2007
It was a short but good trip. My good friend Joel – (a.k.a. MechaHateChimp) tagged along for the ride. It’s always fun showing people the Black Hills for the first time.
The Sturgis Bike Rally was a blast as always. Beautiful bikes, lovely ladies, hardcore bikers, tattoos, leather and Rock-n Roll… Sounds like fun to me! The only part that sucked was this tired-ass airbrush vendor that yelled at us for taking pictures of his tent. Ironically the images that were hanging in his tent are the exact same images that he has posted on his website for all to see. He even yelled at us when we were taking pics of the vendor next to him. I don’t know why he was so upset, there were thousands of people taking pictures of everything.
Anyway, as we headed up to Mt. Rushmore we stopped off at Bear Country to take some pics. The animals are always awesome! I was glad to see they finally built a nice enclosure for the grizzlies. After that we finally made our way up to Mt. Rushmore for some more photo ops. Being from the Black Hills I’ve seen the faces on the hillside many times but, in the last few years they have finished an amphitheater and hiking trail at the base of the hill. This I had never seen. I have to say it was quite refreshing to see it from a different view for once. The trail takes about 30 minutes to get threw and is beautiful the entire way!
Thanks to the folks for putting up with us all weekend and showing us a good time. I never get tired of going back home! – S

Full of HOT AIR
July 9, 2007
Yep, I took another trip this past weekend and went to Steamboat Springs, CO with my girl “K” and I have to tell ya it was a blast! We went up for the Rainbow Weekend Hot Air Balloon Festival, among other things and while there I took about a thousand pics of everything from artwork, clouds and flowers to hot air balloons, landscapes and sunsets. Oh ya, and a golden eagle. The weekend was simply beautiful! Everything was cool except for the hour and a half wait on the drive home to get past an accident outside the Eisenhower Tunnel. Here are some of the pics. Enjoy – S
Cloudy Days
June 30, 2007
Lately, for what ever reason, I’ve been infatuated with the sky/weather and on a recent trip to South Dakota to see the fam I was taken aback by the amazing cloud coverage along the way. So with my camera always at the ready I snapped away at the sky in hopes of getting some inspiration and reference photos. To see a few of the awesome snapshots I got click on the picture below. Enjoy-S
Hello world! Welcome to the Blizzard of ‘06
March 6, 2007
Here are a couple of pics I took of the blizzard that we had last week in Colorado. Some places reported up to 52” of snow in 48 hrs. Sadly we only received 33” at my house. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
