“Back In Black” video

November 17, 2008

Click on the image below to see the short video that Stephen Schuster made for the Back In Black show happening this weekend. He did an awesome job! I really dig the effects/transitions that he used. Check it out. – ShanesArt

Hey Everyone, I wanted to let you know that I was asked to submit an illustration for the “Back In Black: T-Shirt show” that Chris Parks (Palehorse.com) & Joshua Smith (Hydro74) are throwing on November 22nd in St. Petersburg Florida, Sponsored by Design by Humans. Above is the piece I submitted. Order one soon, they cost $18 + shipping and will only be available until Nov. 22nd.

Sadly, I won’t be able to attend the actual show but encourage anyone that can to do so. Below is the flyer for the show and a run down of what will be going on. Enjoy – ShanesArt

During the exhibit
Attendees can check out original t-shirt designs by 20 of the best t-shirt artists/designers in the business. (Free admission)

If you like what you see, buy a t-shirt. You can purchase as many as you want. ($15 each)

Another Random Skull

November 13, 2008

Here’s a new vectored out skull illustration that I worked on the other day. Nothing to different in this piece. I just really like the initial sketch and thought I’d see what I could do with it. Enjoy – S

New Ink!

October 25, 2008

So, last weekend I went up to South Dakota to spend a little time with the folks on my B-day and get a new tattoo as a gift to myself. I new I wanted an armband that said “ShanesArt” as a type treatment and I’d been trying to come up with something for the past few weeks. I must have changed the design about 50 times before I hit the right one. That sucked because most of them were hand drawn. The design I went with is shown below. It stung like a bitch on the inside of my arm but turned out amazing! I’m extremely happy with the job that Steve O’ at Wild Idea Tattoo did and highly recommend him to anyone looking for new ink! Light and steady hand all the way. Thanks again Brotha!

I was also honored to have my folks get tattooed on my B-day. Pops got a soccer ball that I designed to symbolize his life in the sport. It shows the ball “new” on one side and “worn out” on the other side. Moms got a one off version of my logo on her outer calf. That actually blows my mind. Talk about representin’! Thanks guys, it meant a lot to me! Plus, I had a blast! – S

Obama

October 15, 2008

Let me start by saying I don’t want to hear about anyones political views. Keep those comments to yourself. Your choice is your choice, and I don’t care to hear about it.

Now, as for the artwork, I finished the Obama piece awhile back and am finally getting around to posting it. I had been surfing the web for a bit and came across a few posters designed by Shepard Fairey of ObeyGiant and kinda got inspired. I’ve always been a fan of his style and thought I’d give it a shot but with a ShanesArt twist. I’m very happy with the outcome. Hope you are as well. – S

Some hand drawn lettering

September 25, 2008

Just wanted to share some of my latest hand drawn type treatments. I’ve been asked to come up with a lot of “tattoo style” lettering lately and these are a few of the sketches that I come up with. I actually really like to do these. It’s an easy way to experiment with different looks before you start to vector them out. Plus, you can do this anywhere and don’t have to be sitting in front of your computer the whole time. It also takes me back to high school when everyone would ask me to draw on their books or write on their jeans. Enjoy – S
